Goal
The objective of my personal project is to further my knowledge about the Black Lives Matter movement and share it with others. My personal project is also about the history of racism in the United States. I plan to achieve my goal by doing research to answer four questions related to racism and being black in the United States. My product is an informative video that takes a look into the history of racism, explaining how racism led to the Black Lives Matter movement. I share my opinion on the topic and use some of the information from interviews I conducted with friends on their perceptions, as teenagers, about racism in the US today.
Global Context
My personal project is related to the global contexts of Identities and Relationships, Fairness and Development, and Orientation in Space and Time. In regard to Identities and Relationships, the project helped me explore myself as a person of color, and ask questions about whether society as a whole will treat people like me fairly. In regard to Fairness and Development, it is evident that racism is a global issue as evidenced by the spread of the Black Lives Matter movement. In regards to Orientation in Time and Space, I explored this issue in the context of the history of the United States up to the current time.
